AMD has released the Adrenalin driver version 23.9.1. This is a major release by AMD as it includes some significant new features that improve in-game performances as well as drastically reduce the latency.
This update introduces the Radeon Anti-Lag and Anti-Lag+ technologies which take responsive gaming, like first-person shooters, to the next level by smartly pacing screen frames, which reduces the input lag. Moreover, Boost now supports Anti-Lag+ and improves the image quality, which is not only helpful during gaming but also for graphic-specific tasks.
Moreover, AMD has also introduced a new concept of HYPR-RX, which allows users to optimize their games for the RDNA 3-based GPUs, which also reduces the latency and increases the performance.
If you are a hardcore gamer with an AMD graphics card, we recommend that you upgrade to the latest driver for maximum stability and performance gains using the direct download links shared below.

Fixes and improvements
The following list of improvements and fixes are included in this update:
-
AMD Radeon™ Anti-Lag+
This feature takes responsive gaming to the next level by introducing per-game profiling to intelligently pace frames further reducing input lag on RDNA 3-based Radeon GPUs.
The amount of CPU work that is queued up is decreased by the Anti-Lag technology, which regulates the pace of the CPU work to prevent it from outpacing the GPU and causing a bottleneck. Applying frame alignment within the game code itself with AMD Radeon Anti-Lag+ enables greater frame synchronization, which results in even lower latency and an enhanced gaming experience.
Here is a chart of latency comparison when Anti-Lag is disabled, enabled, and Anti-Lag+ enabled:
Anti-Lag+ currently only supports 12 game titles but will include more soon, and the support will be released through the AMD Adrenalin software.
-
AMD Radeon Boost
Boost now supports AMD Radeon Anti-Lag+ and improves image quality through awareness of mouse sensitivity, reducing the image quality impact of dynamic resolution switching during motion, typically seen with high-DPI mice.
AMD Software introduces AMD Radeon Boost support for Resident Evil 4 Remake and Ghostwire: Tokyo, which delivers extra performance and increased responsiveness with little perceived impact on quality.
-
AMD HYPR-RX
HYPR-RX is a new driver experience that allows users to optimize their games using AMD Software features for their RDNA 3-based Radeon GPUs, achieving increased performance and lower latency with ease.
-
AMD Software combines features
Adrenalin Edition 23.9.1 introduces the ability to intelligently combine AMD Radeon Anti-Lag+, Boost, and Radeon Super Resolution to achieve improved performance and latency reduction than these features can achieve on their own.
-
Fixes spatial sound error message
This driver update fixes the issue of observing an error message when selecting the Spatial sound format of “Dolby Atmos for home theatre”.
Known issues
AMD has also released a list of the known issues with this update:
- Performance Metrics Overlay may report N/A for FPS on various games.
- Audio may intermittently become out of sync with video when recording from AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition with AV1 codec.
- The display may not reach the correct brightness with certain games on some SAMSUNG FreeSync Premium Pro displays and TVs when local dimming is enabled.
- Application crashes may be observed while playing Baldur’s Gate 3 with Vulkan API set on some AMD Graphics Products, such as the Radeon RX 7900 XTX.
- Application crashes or driver timeouts may be observed while playing SMITE on some AMD Graphics Products, such as the Radeon RX 7900 XT.
