As per the new release schedule for Google Chrome since version 110, Google has released version 120.0.6099.56 for the select user on the Early Stable Channel. This release applies to both Windows and macOS operating systems and the limited users selected for the Early Stable Channel will be receiving this update at the moment.
The rest of the Chrome users can expect a stable release of Chrome 120 next week (5-6 December).
Although Google has not published any release notes at the moment, we can anticipate the new features and improvements in this release through the Chrome Insider releases.

New in Chrome 120
Ability to copy video frame
With Google Chrome version 120, you can now copy video frames. This means that you can pause any video playing inside the the Chrome browser, right-click it, and then click “Copy video frame“, which will save the video screen in the system’s clipboard. You may then continue to paste and use the copied frame in any other app.
Note: On certain websites, like YouTube, you may need to double right-click the video to get the menu.
In the example below, I am copying the frame from one of our own videos:
Pin side panel elements to toolbar
With Chrome version 120, you can now pin the tools in the sidebar directly into the toolbar at the top, alongside the Omnibox. This feature is useful for users who frequently need to access elements like the browser history, bookmarks, reading list, etc.
Note that there aren’t any release notes at the moment, this feature may be experimental and may need to be activated through a Chrome flag (chrome://flags/).
Automatic tab organization
Google is testing a new feature that will automatically group the tabs once you have opened too many. this is still a work-in-progress therefore this feature will need to be enabled using a Chrome flag.
When you open too many tabs inside Chrome, the browser will automatically group the tabs. This way you can return to similar tabs without having a clutter in the browser’s title bar.
Additionally, you can enable or disable this feature from an “Organize tabs” chip in the title bar. When a certain number of tabs are open, the chip will appear automatically. Toggling it will automatically group similar tabs into a single group, and additional groups will be made according to the tabs you have open simultaneously.

Google previously added the ability to turn the navigation bar on Chrome for Android transparent. This greatly enhanced the user experience by revamping the UI but also had a few glitches. For example, websites with a permanent header would have part of it cut off when scrolling, and when you enter a new address in Chrome, there was an unintended gap between the address bar and the first autocorrect suggestion.
Chrome 120 fixes this issue by introducing more experimental flags. Now, you can enable the following flags in Chrome for Android to experience the improved transparent navigation bar:
- chrome://flags#DrawEdgeToEdge
- chrome://flags#DrawWebEdgeToEdge
- chrome://flags#DrawNativeEdgeToEdge
Another additional flag, which is “chrome://flags#DrawCutoutEdgeToEdge”, will coordinate the camera cutout at the top of the display with the extended draw area behind the navigation bar.
Password sharing with family
You can now share your passwords stored inside the Chrome Password Manager with your family with the click of a button.
A “share” button has been added to the password manager, which will display a list of family members inside a dialog box. The family members will be the people included in the Google Family Group.

Update to Chrome 120
Google Chrome is configured to be updated automatically by default. You can keep browsing the internet while Chrome downloads the newest version for you. It gets installed when you restart the browser.
If you already have Google Chrome installed on your computer, then updating it would be easy. Follow the guide below to update your existing Chrome browser to version 120.
Note: At the moment, this update will only be available to those who are selected for the Early Stable Channel releases.

Open Google Chrome and click on the ellipses (3 dots) in the top-right corner.

Expand Help and click “About Google Chrome.”

Once the update is complete, click “Relaunch.”
Note: The browser closes when you click Relaunch and then reopens, restoring all closed tabs.
The browser will now close and reopen. Once it does, you can navigate to the “About Google Chrome” page again and confirm that it has indeed been updated.

Install Google Chrome 120
Installing the Chrome browser on a Windows PC is as easy as downloading them. The process may vary for different platforms.
Download the file from the links above and then double-click it to execute. The rest of the process is pretty much automatic. The setup will download the required files (if the web installer was downloaded), install them for you and the browser will launch itself as soon as it is installed successfully.
How to uninstall Google Chrome
On a Windows PC, you can uninstall Google Chrome from the settings app, and the Programs & Features applet.
From the Settings app

Search for “Google Chrome.”

Click on the 3 dots in front of “Google Chrome.”
Expand Chrome settings On Windows 11, click on the ellipses (3 dots) in front of Chrome.
On Windows 10, click on “Google Chrome” to expand it.

Click Uninstall.

Click Uninstall again.

Press the Windows Key + R to open the Run Command box.

Type in “appwiz.cpl” and press Enter to open the Programs and Features applet.

Double-click “Google Chrome” from the list.
Uninstall Chrome Alternatively, right-click Chrome and then click Uninstall from the context menu.
Google Chrome will now be removed from your PC.
