New Features in Chrome 102
Resume Your Journey
If you previously searched for something online using Omnibox, you can now continue where you left off using the “Resume your journey” button. Search a topic in Omnibox and then click the resume button under it, and your search results will continue from the last place where you left off.
Extensions Starter Kit
You can now quickly install Chrome extensions in your browser using the Extensions Starter Kit. This is a marketplace designed for your basic extensions, which are also free to use.
This kit includes the extensions that are usually added to the Chrome browser by the end-users.
Extensions from the Starter Kit can be added just like any other Chrome extension – select the extensions that you want and then click Add to Chrome.
New Keyboard Shortcut
Google is making it more convenient by adding support for keyboard shortcuts so that the user can perform actions without having to use their mouse.
Google has now added the shortcut to reorder your tabs using the CTRL + SHIFT + Page Up/Page Down keys simultaneously. Press this key combination and the current tab will move up or down the list of the currently-opened tabs.
Store Reviews
Chrome will now offer to show you store reviews on Google when it detects that you are browsing an e-commerce website. Since the feature is still experimental, it needs to be manually enabled through its flags.
Here are the steps to enable this feature in Chrome 102:
-
Paste the following in the Omnibox and hit Enter.
chrome://flags/#page-info-about-this-site
-
Now expand the drop-down menu in front of “‘About this site’ section in page info” and select Enabled. Then click Relaunch to implement the changes.
Upgrade to Chrome 102
If you already have Google Chrome installed on your computer, then updating it would be easy. Follow the guide below to update your existing Chrome browser to version 102.
-
Launch Google Chrome and click on the ellipses (3 dots) in the top-right corner of the browser. Then, expand Help, and click About Google Chrome.
-
As soon as the About page opens, the browser will start searching for an update and then automatically download it. Once it is ready to install, you will be presented with a Relaunch button. Click Relaunch.
Note: The browser closes when you click Relaunch and then reopens, restoring all closed tabs.
The browser will now close and reopen. Once it does, you can navigate to the About Google Chrome page again and confirm that it has indeed been updated to version 102.
There are a few different methods that can also be used to update your Chrome browser to the latest version, including:
