While there has been some buzz all around about Windows 11 23H2 officially releasing on 26 September 2023, that is not quite the whole story.
We have been anticipating the next feature update for Windows 11, which will be 23H2, or version 2023. As history recalls, it will be released in the second half of 2023, but Microsoft has not made any official statements. According to experts, it is supposed to be released to the public with the next Patch Tuesday update, which will be on 10 October 2023.
Update: Windows 11 23H2 was officially released on 31st October 2023.
However, according to recent speculations, the release date changed to 26th September instead. The new supposed release date for Windows 11 23H2 was based on an announcement by Microsoft on Windows Copilot. Here is what the announcement read:
Today, we’re thrilled to share our next step toward making Windows the destination for the best AI experiences – with a new update that delivers our most personal experience yet coming on Sept. 26.

With this anticipation, everyone thought that Windows 11 23H2 was being released on the 26th of September. There were even speculations that it would be released on the Release Preview Insider channel, and those subscribed to it would update to version 2023. However, that is not true.
Instead, according to Microsoft’s clarification, certain new features of Windows 11 23H2 are making their way to the Release Preview channel, and the OS version will remain on 22H2, and not shift to 23H2. Therefore, the unannounced release date for Windows 11 23H2 remains to be 10 October 2023.
