Microsoft Patch Tuesday for December 2020 is upon us again and security patches for different Microsoft products have been released. Microsoft has fixed a total of 58 vulnerabilities in its products, including Windows 10.
7 CVEs are related to Windows including the following: CVE-2020-17092, CVE-2020-17103, CVE-2020-17134, CVE-2020-17136, CVE-2020-17138, CVE-2020-17139, CVE-2020-16996.
There may be other vulnerabilities affecting Windows indirectly like CVE-2020-17095 in Hyper-V, CVE-2020-17096 and CVE-2020-17140 are related to Windows SMB. You can read more about these CVEs on the Microsoft MSRC portal.
If you are using Windows 10 Version 1903 or above with default Windows Update settings, Windows will download and install the latest cumulative update for you. You will get a restart prompt once the updates are done installing.
To avoid installing these updates, you can either disable Windows Updates altogether or bypass the installation and restart prompt if the updates have already been downloaded. You can also stop a specific update from installing.
