Microsoft released updates for all currently supported versions of Windows on this October 2021 Patch Tuesday. Windows 11 was released on October 5th, less than ten days ago. Security update KB5006674 has been made available for Windows 11 and will be downloaded and installed automatically for all users who have enabled Windows Update. A restart is, of course, required after installing this update.

In addition to a single security upgrade for Windows 11, this update also comes with Servicing Stack Update (SSU) that ensures you continue to receive quality updates for the operating system.

Installing this update will upgrade your build to 22000.258.

Let us now discuss what exactly KB5006674 improves.

Fixes and Improvements

The update KB5006674 fixes a compatibility issue reported by some users between some Intel “Killer” and “SmartByte” networking software and Windows 11 (Stable version).

The affected devices were reported to be dropping User Datagram Protocol (UDP) packets before the fix, which led to decreased performance. Users experienced slower web browsing, poor online video streaming, and poor VPN connectivity.

Installing KB5006674 on your Windows 11 PC will make significant improvements to your online experience if you are one of the affected users.

Also, there are currently no known issues with this release that Microsoft is aware of.
