AMD has released Adrenalin Edition 22.10.1 driver for its line of Radeon GPUs. This update includes support for Overwatch 2 and fixes two additional updates. However, it still has some known issues that need to be addressed.

That said, critics are still frustrated that the issues affecting their devices still need to be addressed, but AMD has failed to comment on it in a post on Reddit.

Let us take a closer look at this Adrenalin update.

What’s New in AMD Adrenalin 22.10.1

Added Support

You can now play Overwatch 2 on your computers with AMD Radeon graphics cards. Installing Adrenalin edition 22.10.1 will now support the said game.

Fixes

Previously, the option for using AMD Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs was not available for image processing when using Adobe Lightroom. AMD has now addressed this issue, and you can now use the dedicated graphics card for the task.

Moreover, the frequent crash of Street Fighter 6 Beta is now fixed.

Known Issues

AMD has also released a list of the known issues with this update:

  • Radeon Super Resolution may fail to trigger after changing resolution or HDR settings on games such as Nioh 2.
  • Oculus dashboard menu and rendered controllers may appear bouncing/wobbly on Oculus Quest 2 with some AMD Graphics Products such as the Radeon RX 6800 XT Graphics.
  • GPU utilization may be stuck at 100% in Radeon performance metrics after closing games on some AMD Graphics Products such as Radeon 570.
  • While previewing the timeline in VEGAS Pro, some colors may appear inverted.
  • Chromium-based browsers may experience video stuttering on extended monitors with mixed refresh rates using Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs.
  • Users may encounter dropped frames during video playback using hardware acceleration on Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs. AMD aims to fix this issue in the next Adrenalin update (22.10.2).
  • The display may briefly show corruption when switching between video and game windows on some AMD Graphics Products such as the Radeon RX 6700 XT. AMD aims to fix this issue in the next Adrenalin update (22.10.2).
  • When Vertical Refresh Sync is set globally to Always Off, system stuttering or driver timeout may occur during video playback using Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs. AMD aims to fix this issue in the next Adrenalin update (22.10.2).
  • Driver timeout may occur using HEVC hardware encoding on Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs. AMD aims to fix this issue in the next Adrenalin update (22.10.2).

After going through the list of issues, it can be determined that most of the issues are related to AMD’s flagship GPU series, the 6000 series. If AMD does not address these issues soon, it might eventually lose a lot of its existing customers.

Moreover, the issue of 100% GPU utilization has been around for over a year now, but AMD has failed to address it thus far.

Supported Radeon Hardware

The GPUs listed below are supported by Adrenalin Edition 22.10.1:

  • Radeon RX 6900/6800/6700/6600/6500/6400 Series Graphics
  • Radeon RX 5700/5600/5500/5300 Series Graphics
  • Radeon VII
  • Radeon RX Vega Series Graphics

Closing Words

The AMD Radeon graphics units are one of the most powerful GPUs in the market. Their current flagship GPU is the 6000 series. However, the company fails to address some major issues concerning this hardware, and the end-users are becoming impatient. It would be best if AMD addresses the problems soon, or they might disappoint their users.
